VR for autism

What happens when autism meets virtual reality?

What if the lights are so bright that they give you a pounding headache?
What if people's whispers sounded like they were yelling?
What if your clothes felt like they were made of fiberglass?

This is the reality for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who experience sensory integration disorders.

As students in the Entrepreneurial Design, Thinking and Communication class, we explored whether new technologies can help these individuals and their caretakers. Inspired by our client, Ms Ashley Carrick, and many experienced therapists, we designed a multisensory virtual reality experience for our user Ethan Ducayet, an individual with autism spectrum disorder.
